Hi guys,

During support time, we have received a lot of questions from newbies for Joomla extension. Therefore, we decided to share to you guys - who are just start learning about Joomla some tips which help you easier in manage your Joomla site.

 1. Increase speed for your site

Customer will not wait for your site to load for 10 seconds. The more time your site take to load, the more customers is going to leave you.

Therefore, speed up your site is very important.
Beside all the things they have said to you to increase your site's speed such as: optimize images, minimize HTTP requests, optimize CSS delivery, etc… one of the simplest way could help is enable cache and page compression:

Go to: System > Global configuration > system > Cache: ON (start with Conservative caching then try Progressive)

cache

System > Global configuration > Server > Gzip Page Compression: Yes

Save and close

gzip

You might not see the improvement specifically for all the sites but trust me, it really can help your site load 50% faster.

 2. Protostar with full page width layout

Don’t want to use boxed layout for protostar template? Here is the way to make it display in full width:

Go to Extension > Template manager > Protostar – default > Advanced > Fluid layout: fluid
