Drop down menu rows not working

Hello, I followed the instructions in your documentation to essentially create 2 horizontal rows within the mega menu drop down, but it doesn't seem to be working. no matter what I do, everything displays in 1 column.

Test Top Level - which is set to 1 column and group is set to "no".

Row 1 - 3 columns group "yes", show title "no", parent is "test top level"
A1 - column 1, group "yes", parent is "row 1"
A2 - column 1, group "yes", parent is "row 1"

Row 2 - 2 columns group "yes"show title "no", parent is "test top level"
A5 - column 1, group "yes", parent is "row 2"
A6 - column 1, group "yes", parent is "row 2"
