Number of items / articles in one row

Hello,

it would be great to know how I could customize / improve the following issues:

- number of items in one row
it seems to be pre-adjusted that always four items are in one row.
Is there any chance to influence this parameter, e.g. five or six articles (or two) in one row?
And is it possible to adust the max width/heigth and so on?

- with 4 articles one row
sometimes when I'm opening the page locally in different browsers, only 3 articles are shown in one row, the last one is in a new row below.
When I'm adjusting the window a little bit, the last one is relocated very fast in the first row.
Is there anything I could do to ensure that always 4 (or better 5) items are shown securely in one row?
