Clarification - External Links on Newsticker

I purchased the JUX Newsticker. I think though I've misunderstood. When I saw "external links" I took this to mean RSS/JSON etc.

It doesn't work with an RSS feed input as far as I can see. Does the Newsticker allow RSS input?
